bridging curves

The museum bridges the Helsinki harbor and the adjacent Tahititornin Vuori park. This linkage is accomplished through a gently curved object elevated above ground, adjusted to the natural topography and the orientation of the urban grid. The building is divided in two distinct parts, the gallery spaces in a broad but minimum-surface structure, and a suspended glass box serving as a panoramic walkway accessed from both the harbor side and the park. The elevated volume provides a protected canopy for public plaza stretching along the harbor.
